- Nebula Agate is characterised by the scenic moss like inclusions with orbicular agate rings that pierce through a translucent chalcedony. There may also be quartz, multicoloured moss and dendritic inclusions present in the stone, depending on how it has been carved.
- Nebula agates are created in volcanic geodes. As lava cools, gas bubbles / voids remain. Over time silica charged hydrothermal waters seep into these cavities, depositing microcrystalline quartz (chalcedony) on the internal walls. Trace elements and temperature changes create swirls and bands of colour. "Nebula" agate gets its name from cloudy, orb like patterns that are similar to galaxy or nebulae patterns.
