- The patterns are from an interplay of agate and chalcedony - both members of the quartz family. As silica rich solutions seep into volcanic rock cavities, they began o crystalise slowly. This process created plumes and inclusions that resembled tiny blossoms or seed pods suspended in stone.
- The floral like patterns are technically known as orbicular inclusions, formed when mineral impurities - often manganese or iron - become trapped in the stone as it cools
