- Mookaite is also known as Windalia Radiolarite, a sedimentary rock fromed from the fossilised remains of microscopic marine organisms called Radiolaria. It is found exclusively in Western Australia, near Mooka Creek in the Kennedy Ranges.
- Mookaite is a silicified radiolarite formed from the fossilised remains of microscopic marine organisms, Radiolaria. These organisms settled on ancient seabeds where they were later replaced by silica rich waters, fossilising them into vibrant, earthy hues. The presence of iron and manganese oxides within the silica creates the characteristic vibrant colours including reds, yellows and purples.
